Newborn information and pricing guide

Thank you for enquiring with Moments to Memories to capture special moments of your loved ones. This guide aims to provide you with detailed information on the different types of newborn sessions offered and associated pricing so you can make an informed decision. I know you had unlimited options when it came to choosing a photographer suited to your needs, so it means the world to me that you considered Moments to Memories to document one of the most important times in your lives.

Newborn sessions are held when your baby is 5 to 14 days old. Being brand new babies are still so curly and flexible like they were in the womb and this is how we get all those beautiful curled up poses. They also sleep really well and aren’t as sensitive to noise and touch, which makes posing them a lot easier.

Deposit

To secure your session with Moments to Memories, a $150.00 deposit is due upon booking. Your deposit secures the date and time you have chosen so no one else can book that time.

Your deposit amount will come off the total amount of your digital collection package.

My Studio

When I launched Moments to Memories I knew it was going to be essential to have the perfect space to host my newborn sessions. A place where mums and dads could come with their new little bundle of joy and feel comfortable and safe. A place that has everything we need to make the day as efficient as possible. My studio has a comfortable lounge and a change matt to make mums and dads life a lot easier. The room is kept at 28-30 degrees which is purely for baby’s sake, they like it nice and warm. For the nudey photos we must keep the room warm in order for baby to be completely comfortable as they cant regulate their own body temperate.

Styling your session

I have a heap of bonnets, headbands, outfits, along with been bag fabrics, wraps and wooden props. I source my props from all over the world and I am constantly adding to my collection every month to stay in fashion and current. I style your whole session, however I will ask you about favourite colours if you have any to incorporate into the session so they match your nursery/home and your taste.

Newborn set ups

Depending on your chosen newborn collection package you can choose from a variety of different set ups. I will ask you for your favourite poses/pictures (if you have any) prior to the session so we can try and incorporate them into the shoot. If you want to leave it up to me that is perfectly fine as well.

Planning for your newborn session

SCHEDULING

I typically book out anywhere between 1-3 months in advance. It is highly recommended to book your newborn session whilst still pregnant. This guarantees your session when baby arrives. Your ‘due date’ is put into my calendar and once baby arrives I ask you to contact me within the first 48 hours so we can finalise a date that suits us both.

PAYMENT

A deposit is due upon booking your session. Your chosen digital collection package is due a week before your session. You’ll receive an invoice for both payments. Additional digital images or upgrades can be ordered and paid for after your session date.

WHAT TO BRING

1. Extra Bottles and formula (if bottle fed)
2. Dummy, even if you don’t use one at home, they can be very useful for settling baby purely for photos
3. Spare nappies
4. A loose blanket/wrap to feed baby in
5. Drinks, lunch and snacks

WHAT TO WEAR

Wear something that makes you feel comfortable and confident. I only photograph the top half for parent and family shots. Try and coordinate your colours so you are all wearing the same tones. For siblings - match to mum and dad so everything is coordinating. I have everything for baby!

Preparing for your newborn session

BEFORE YOUR SESSION

Sessions are in the morning (exact time to be confirmed). Before the shoot please feed baby 2-3 hours prior. Please plan on feeding baby as soon as you arrive at the studio. For the 1-2 hours prior to leaving your home to come to the session please do not let your baby sleep. Instead try giving them a bath or letting them kick with only a nappy on, tickle their toes and let them fuss for a bit (no dummy). Since baby will be unclothed and unsaddled, this is not the normal routine and is likely to cause baby to become awake if they have already slept. Keeping your baby awake before the session will ensure those squishy, sleepy newborn pictures.

DURING YOUR SESSION

Once you arrive, get settled and feed baby we will then hop straight into the fun. If you have older children I will always do the sibling family photos first. They can get a bit bored in the studio. This allows dad to take them for a drive, a walk to the park or even go home (if you live close) whilst we focus on baby.

If you have booked a full session I will set up and photograph a variety of poses. Baby will run the show depending on how he/she is behaving on the day will determine how many set ups we do.

AFTER YOUR SESSION

1-2 edited sneak peek photos from your session will be posted on my social media or sent to you by the end of the day. After 1-2 weeks, you will get to choose your favourite images from an online gallery that is protected for your eyes only (and other family members if you wish). Photos in this gallery are unedited. If you wish to upgrade your collection to include extra images, this is your opportunity to do so.

Once you are happy with your choices I will then spend the next 2 weeks approximately editing and putting the finishing touches on your images. This includes exposure edits, colour edits and skin retouching etc. Your finished gallery will then be ready for digital download. The whole process usually takes between 2-4 weeks which can fluctuate depending on how busy my schedule is.

If you have chosen the largest collection which includes an album this will be put together and ordered after your photos are finished being edited. This album can then take a couple of weeks to arrive to me.
